During WWII Cary Grant is a boozing beachcomber whom the Australian Navy has pressed into being a lookout on a South Pacific Island. While answering a distress call he encounters Leslie Caron, a French woman in charge of seven school girls. Trapped on the island together, the raunchy American and the eight females engage in an amusing battle of the sexes.
